God and Mary's Blessing

St. Patrick's Day is Ireland's greatest national holiday as well as a Catholic Holy Day. The date marks the anniversary of the death of the missionary who became the patron saint of Ireland. It is a happy holiday for the Irish and Catholics wherever they may be - in Dublin, New York City, Boston ~ even Las Vegas. And because it is a religious holy day as well as a holiday, many people begin the day by attending mass, where it is the traditional day for offering prayers for missionaries throughout the world, before the serious celebrating ~ parades, speeches, festive dinners & dances, the 'wearing of the green,' and drinking green beer ~ begins. All folks welcome to be a wee bit o' the Irish on this day. Enjoy!

Irish Blessings

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

May there always be work for your hands to do
May your purse always hold a coin or two
May the sun always shine on your windowpane
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain
May the hand of a friend always be near you
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you

~ An Old Irish Wedding Blessing ~

May God be with you and bless you
May you see your children's children
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings
May you know nothing but happiness
from this day forward.

And Heaven is overflowing.

To spread luck along your way.
And may all the Irish angels,
